What a flipping hot day to be riding a trial, glad
would not be the right word to sum up my relief when the organisers
decided to run the trial over three laps instead of the threatened
Four. Ridley is a great piece of land to ride on if you're a novice
rider and with a JCB spent changing the landscape it would be great
for the Inter's and experts this is not a criticism merely an oversight
Of the land and the predictable sections.
The right side of the land, that's when you enter
through the farm gate and look to your right is where the most excitement
happened today. Steve D's section Caught me out on every lap with
an up hill corner turn over some large tree roots, why did I keep
getting it wrong I don't know put with it's tricky little turns and
gentle climbs it left me footing In one place or another. The next
couple of sections along gave me no problems until I came to section
eight the bloke with the XR enduro bike? My first attempt was my worst
loosing three marks If I'm lucky on those tricky little roots, not
that I've a problem riding over tree roots it's just a case of a sharp
left turn and then you're on them for an uphill blip with loadsa throttle
control needed. Lap two someone suggested I try a different line of
approach to the earlier one and this paid dividend with one mark lost
on the second lap and the same again on lap three.
Moving along I think It's the section I lost most
of my marks. What was required for a clean was bags of bottle and
a bit of luck, driving through the start gate and being met by a tree
stump ten or so feet on was not A problem it was what came after that
which really did need a good rider to clean it. The ride over the
stump was done in first gear nice and slowly as a left turn was required
straight afterwards and bearing in mind your on a camber I drove along
about ten feet Or so and then turning right for an uphill climb of
may be eight feet and being caught every time on that bloody flint.
At the top Of the bank you ride along twenty or so feet and then was
the nasty bit, over some really big tree roots quite widely spaced
apart going across from a left to right on a steep camber. I never
made it and I had no intentions to having seen a couple of decent
riders hash It up and if they are taking big fat juicy fives then
I'll foot It through for my three kind Mr Marshal Sir, that said and
done had I been riding with the MBT team I may have had a go at it,
I never understand why we split up but I certainly don't smell of
Dogs...
Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about this
trial except express my praise for all the marshals for sitting out
in the horrendous heat and I would like to address Paul Stephens by
saying "my boot had some mud stuck to the bottom of it and that's
why I broke that large lump of wood off in your section, would I lie
and alter a Section Paul??? Not me your honour".
So, the next NKTC event will be held by the big-it-up
club BEXLEYHEATH I can hear you say Yeah, Mr Delmontie says Yeah….
It's going to be awesome, tricky, juicy and down right orgasmic, don't
miss it i'll be there marshalling and giving you your big fat fives,
if I'm clerk of the course and any of you whining trials riders back
Chat me it's going cost yu £500. Ha, Ha……….see you there!
