It was raining today and when I say raining I’m not talking about
the odd drizzle I’m talking pissing down. I’ve ridden a couple
times at Rotherfield and each time its been raining, today’s
weather conditions took it a stage further to monsoon league.
I wonder if Rotherfield’s weather is caused by some freak Amazon
rain forest cloud hanging over the land, or perhaps it’s an area
that passing aircraft off load their toilet waste – it was raining
so hard on lap 2 I couldn’t see where I was going, the funny thing
was all us riders were smiling, mad that’s what we are stark raving
mad. Take a tip from me if your interested in monsoon weather
conditions but haven’t got the money to travel to your local rain
forest, pop down to Rotherfield for a trial I guarantee monsoon
weather condition all day with out fail.
10 minutes into start of the trial I was walking around section two
admiring how few a number of riders can devastate a section, a
whole host of them didn’t make it to the exit and they must have
fought like bitch’s to get their bikes through them exit gates.
The exit to the section was a gentle turning climb maybe 6 feet
in height, I used fourth to get me around. Section 4 was young
Gordon’s section and on the third lap the section was changed
due to air sea rescue calling a halt to the proceeding when a
rider got swept down river. (Don’t ride in the river Gordon
boomed at us riders) okay Gordon you’re the boss - The section
was so slippery even fourth gear wouldn’t get me around, I ended
up on my back sliding down a bank backwards being covered in mud
at the bottom – I shouldn’t have laughed at Rob when he fived it
and instead walked around the section again seeing if it had
changed, serve me right. Section 7 was the last section in the
river, on lap one you could just see the rocks in the river, lap
two they were submerged and lap three I was white water rafting -
The bow wave my bike created was so big when I pressed the kill
switch at end of the section the bloody bike electrocuted me.
Section 9 with its fallen tree caused no end of problems for us
inter’s and experts, the experts were having serious problems
jumping two logs greased in tree slime and water, the inters
had to contend with these logs also and when the experts are
having problems what chance have we got – I still gave it a
go and my genitalia is now hung just below my neck. Section
13 the last section was impossible for me to clean on lap 3
I was so knackered and having being half drowned in the river,
covered in mud, me lowers up around my neck and being electrocuted
I didn’t even bother attempting this section.

Lets hope the postal strike doesn’t last to long, one riding
that is due for a bit of stick is Montesa mount Roberts (This
bloke I guarantee will finish the trial before anyone, every
things done at 100mph, can’t stop, got to keep going, deep breath,
deep breath… slow down its not a bloody enduro event). Which brings
me to Rob, what was you like from section 8 onwards lap 3? Yeehaaa
was that a record for you them big collection of 5’s all on the trot?
The team trial is being held at Horsmonsden next month, I’m thinking
about taking one of the off-road 4 wheel drive 1000bhp Icelandic hill
climbing vehicles cos I’m gonna need it as well as the rest of you.
Thanks to the 96 Club for a brilliant trial, the landowner and those crazy marshals.
